Aims and Values
We provide before and after school care for children in key stages 1 and 2 (ie from reception to year 6).
We believe that children should be supervised by suitable adults in a stable, safe and fun environment immediately before and after school.
As a play scheme there are no specific educational aims, however, children benefit from:
- Social interaction with trusted adults who are not parent or teachers
- Social interaction with children of various ages
- Learning and playing card and board games
- Imaginative play (e.g. with dressing up clothes)
- Craft activities (drawing, origami etc)
- Physical play (in playground and on play equipment).
We aim to overlap our values with those held by Churchill Primary School in particular those of respect and behaviour.
Hours of operation
Mondays to Fridays 7.45am to 8.45am and 3.30pm to 5.45pm
We may take a maximum of 16 children per session.
(We do not provide care during holiday periods but can recommend the play schemes offered by both Churchill Sports Centre and The Kings of Wessex Leisure Centre (Cheddar).
CKC is run by a voluntary management committee consisting of parents/ carers plus a member nominated by the primary school. Our play workers are employed by the committee. We operate on a non-profit making basis and aim only to cover costs so as to keep the play scheme affordable for working parents.
We are fully insured and are Ofsted registered.
